The Most Expensive Home Theater

The jury is still out on who has the most expensive home theater system in the world. What makes the discussion complicated is the fact that we have had several people claiming to have the most expensive home theater. And as it turns out, their respective home theater systems are indeed quite impressive, and it is therefore difficult to declare on better than the other. When trying to identify the most expensive home theater system, we don’t just look at the amount of money spent on it (it could very well be a situation where one paid a lot for components that could be obtained cheaply). Thus, in trying to identify the most expensive home theater, we have to look beyond the amounts of money spent on the systems. We have to look at the systems in their entirety, the features in them and such other things, alongside the sums of money spent on them. Under that scheme of things, the most expensive home theater system would be the one that has been built at the greatest expense, and the one whose features actually justify the expense.

It is worth mentioning here that the whole exercise is not aimed at identifying ‘the most expensive home theater model.’ Most of the home theater models sold in readymade form are usually quite cheap, and they can’t really get into contention for the most expensive home theater declaration. By and large, the field is left to the custom-made (personalized) home theater systems. It is towards building those that genuinely big sums of money are poured. And in the final analysis, it is those types of home theater systems that end up in the contention for this particular declaration.

For a home theater system to be in contention to be declared the most expensive home theater system, it needs to have several things. Firstly, the screen component of the home theater system has to be truly impressive (in terms of size and in terms of quality). Of the top contenders actually has a home theater system whose screen is a whopping 10 feet by 18 feet in terms of length-width dimensions.

Secondly, for a home theater system to be (seriously) in contention to be declared the most expensive home theater system, it has to have a truly impressive video projector component. Actually, all the home theater systems that are seriously in this race have professional projectors. No amateur/home video projectors here please.

Thirdly, (and this goes without saying really) for a home theater system to be in contention to be declared the most expensive home theater system, it has to have a gaming console component. Further, the gaming console component has to be truly remarkable. A time has come when personal entertainment is more than just watching videos and listening to music. Gaming has become an integral part of it.

Finally, for a home theater system to be in contention to be declared the most expensive home theater system, it has to have a Blu ray player (in addition to the standard but customized DVD/VCD player) together with a video recorder and a laserdisc.

While at it, the seating component of the home theater system has to be examined together with the size and quality of speakers that make up the home theater system.
